Credit Card Debt Elimination
At this point, all you might know about credit card debt is that you have a lot of it and you need to get rid of it. Short of winning the lottery, you might not have a clue about how to do this. But we can help.
Successful Credit Card Debt Elimination
There are four basic programs designed to eliminate credit card debt. The first one is debt settlement, and it's probably the fastest way to get out of debt. This program is good for someone who has access to a large sum of cash, but not enough to pay off their debt in full. It allows you to pay off your debts at 30-60 cents on the dollar, but you have to pay it off all at once. Sometimes, you can find a debt settlement company that will give you anywhere from 1-3 years to pay it off. The problem with debt settlement is that it can appear as a negative entry on your credit report.
Another quick way to achieve credit card debt elimination is to get a debt consolidation loan. With a debt consolidation loan, you can pay off all our credit card debts immediately, but then you'll still have the loan to pay back. However, the interest rate on the loan is so low that you'll have it paid off in five years. (Normally it would take 18-30 years to do this if you just paid the required monthly minimum, and you'd pay a lot more in interest.)
If you don't have the collateral required to get a debt consolidation loan, you can turn to a basic debt consolidation program for credit card debt elimination. This is a process through which a debt consolidation professional contacts your creditors to get your balances and interest rates reduced. Then the new, lower balances are combined, and you make one monthly payment to the debt consolidation company instead of several monthly payments to your creditors. The result is total credit card debt elimination within five years.
The fourth and final way to achieve credit card debt elimination is for homeowners, and it's a debt consolidation mortgage. This allows you to borrow from the equity in your house to pay off your unsecured debts. Your payment is combined with your mortgage, and you get the same interest rate as your mortgage. In some cases, the interest is even tax-deductible (check with your tax advisor to see if this will work for your tax situation). But beware--if you miss payments, you could lose your house. And even though you get your credit cards paid off immediately this way, you'll be paying on it for the life of your mortgage.
To learn which of these debt elimination programs is best for you, you'll need to talk to someone at a debt management company about your situation. And there are plenty of debt management companies out there to choose from. Just do an Internet search on credit card debt elimination and see for yourself. But don't just choose the first company that pops up. You need to do some research, just as you would with any important financial decision. Make sure the companies you are most interested in are nationally certified and accredited. Make sure they have a physical street address, not just a post office box. Make sure your creditors are willing to work with them. And make sure they are ready and willing to answer any questions you have.
You have to realize that the dream to eliminate credit card debts can be made a reality if you just put your mind to it and get started! Start today and make total debt elimination a part of your life.
